Mentorship and apprenticeship have always been central to herbal training. Long after core studies or a didactic program are complete, many herbalists find that their work deepens most through guided dialogue, shared inquiry, and the quiet refinement that comes from working alongside someone with experience.
In my own path, mentorship has been essential—both as a student and as a practitioner. It is also one of the most meaningful aspects of my work now.
As a Registered Herbalist, I offer mentorship for herbalists who are looking to integrate their training more fully into practice. Mentorship is individualized and shaped by your questions, interests, and stage of development. This may include reviewing clinical cases together, talking through challenging concepts, working on research or writing projects, or exploring how to think more clearly and ethically about complex client presentations.
I have the privilege of supervising many herb students through the Natural Care Center Western Herbal Clinic at Notre Dame of Maryland's School of Integrative Health.
I also serve as a CNS Supervisor and mentor through The Nutrition and Herbal Collective (TNHC). Nutritionists and herbalists pursuing their Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS®) credential who are seeking supervision or mentorship in that context should reach out directly to TNHC for more information.
In addition, I hold a small number of limited slots for independent herbal mentorship. These spaces are intentionally few, so that the work can remain thoughtful, responsive, and well-supported.
If mentorship feels like a good next step for you, I’d be glad to hear from you. You’re welcome to reach out with a brief note introducing yourself. Sharing a little about your background, your current work or studies, and what you’re hoping to explore through mentorship can help determine whether this would be a good fit.
"Dr. Keren’s mentorship has been a cornerstone in my journey as a clinical herbalist. Her guidance has deepened my understanding of how to integrate evidence-based herbal protocols with nutrition, lifestyle, and emotional well-being. Her mentorship has strengthened my confidence in clinical decision-making and refined my ability to translate research into client-friendly strategies.
Her teaching style fosters critical thinking, ethical responsibility, and adaptability. She challenges her mentees to move beyond formulas and to view each client as a whole person, cultivating a profound respect for the complexity of human health.
I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to learn from Dr. Keren. Her example continues to inspire me to uphold the values of precision, compassion, and holistic care in every aspect of my work."
